Hi all-
I am a pre-nursing student at Sinclair in Dayton. This is my "second" career. I already have a BS in chemistry and I just want to get my associates in nursing from Sinclair and maybe finish my BS later at some point after I have worked awhile.
My husband was talking to a co-worker who's daughter is getting her MS in nursing at WSU and she said that Good Sam Hospital in Dayton just cleaned house of their ADRNs and that they prefer the nurses with a BSN. And that is what I should work for. I thought maybe he meant LPNs possibly? Does anyone know?
I had been under the impression that there was not much difference in job responsibilities or pay between the BSN and ADRN- at least starting out. I could get my BSN at WSU in the same amount of time as the ADRN at Sinclair (with my previous degree) - but it would be at a much greater expense and would impact my family life even more. Thanks for any feedback on this!! Please reassure me because so far I have been very impressed with Sinclair....

Hi I live in dayton and work at Kettering Hospital. Good Sam did lay off some people but not any nursing. I have not heard that about Good Sam, I don't know how they could or would do that, as they are hurting for nurses. Just look at their job postings. Besides they aren't the only hospital in town. We have plenty of openings.
