Just a curious question.
I am taking a new job as ADON. I have done this before but it has been years.
I'm just wondering what your daily routine is as an ADON (LTC)? What are your general job duties and responsibilities.

I know that the role of ADON can vary from one factility to another, but can include:
Chart audits
employee disciplary actions/counseling
stand up morning meeting
referral/admissin meetings
multiple items to track daily, weekly and/or monthly
reports to file/write
on and on
At my facility, the early am is chart audits, complinig information for various reports, stand up morning meeting, then can go to any of a zillion areas after that.
ADON is a very busy role. Best wishes!!!!!
Thanks. I am a very organized planner, so I am trying to get an idea of how to "organize" my day. I know because of the unknowns of each day I will not beable to maintain my "schedule" but it helps to have a plan of action in place to make sure things are getting done in a timely manner.
i like to be organized too. sometimes it is more "organized choas", though!!
we do chart audits first thing so nurses can "fix" things, handle staffing issues at the same time, then it is usually time for stand up meeting....
What do you mean by "stand up" meeting? Is this just a brief on incidences and things in the last 24 hours?
most LTC homes have a brief meeting in the morning to discuss admits, problems, etc., lasts about 30 minutes, usually every one "stands up" rather than sits because it is so brief. may be referred to by other names.

add staffing to the list. This often falls on the ADON too. Lots of meetings and follow up type of things. Some other commitees or things to review could be infection control, weight loss, skin care, restorative....it all depends on your building.
