Hi there!
I'm moving to Melbourne with my husband at the end of October and am wondering the pros and cons of pursuing my ADN vs my BSN. I am planning on enrolling in a CNA program to start with so that I can hopefully start working in a hospital getting experience ASAP, but I'm really curious what the job market is like for nurses with an ADN, but no BSN? Most of the job postings require graduating from an accredited ADN program, but say BSN preferred. I have a BA in Spanish so in order to pursue my BSN I'm looking at about another year of pursuing pre-requisites before applying to get my BSN. If I do the ADN first, I'd still want to get my BSN because I'd eventually like to become a nurse practitioner or certified nurse midwife. I'm just wondering if it's worth the cost to get an ADN, then a BSN or if I should just save money and wait until I can get my BSN.
Thanks in advance!
Buyer beware, BSN

OP:
If you have a BA already, go for a BSN. For you, ASN v. BSN same difference for the most part in time and treasure. Just go to a ground school. The accelerated programs for BSN are really for ASNs that already know the nursing ropes and are having their tuition paid for by an employer. Accelerated programs for everyone else, whether online or ground, are just marketing come-ons and the students without a nursing background get overwhelmed and drop out.
That's it. * Stay clear of the for-profits and a BA in Spanish in FL= marketability.
