ADN vs BSN

Published

Hello all! I'm hoping for a bit of advice, and any you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I've done some research, but am hoping to get some opinions from others who are/have been in this or a similar situation. I am currently taking nursing prerequisites at a technical college that offers an ADN, but am considering transfering to a nearby university that offers a BSN. I do think that the tech school has a great nursing program, and has a reputation in the area for turning out good nurses; also, as it is a tech school, the tuition is less expensive. The nursing program at the university also has a good reputation, and it is a state run school so (while being more expensive than the tech school) is also fairly affordable. I do plan on eventually getting my BSN if I go the ADN route, and getting the ADN would allow me to work as a RN and gain experience while finishing my BSN. However, a couple of the jobs I would like to do require a BSN, and I think I would be able to get into the BSN program sooner than I would get into the ADN program (there is also a possible scholarship I could get in the BSN program that would help pay for the degree, as well as get me into a new grad program). I apologize if this is too much information, but I wanted to provide some background information for my question. I've been trying to figure out what I should do, but would likke some advice...so my question is this: what advice can anyone offer me in regards to this situation?
