ADN in Savannah GA or Columbia SC ?

Published

Hi,

I am a 32 year old male holding two masters degrees and want to become a nurse. Yes! I want to do something noble and worthy with my life. My bachelors is in Economics from overseas and I completed an MBA and a Master of Human Resource Management program in the US. I have been looking for universities and colleges in Savannah, GA and Columbia, SC for an associate program in nursing which would allow me to become an RN. The ones I was able to find were offering BSN and MSN programs. Right now I do not have a 4+ year time cushion and funds to make it through 4+ years. (Married, father of 2) If I can become an RN i am very sure that I will want to run for an MSN. If you could please help me with some school names in or around mentioned cities offering associate degrees in nursing and your opinions about the path to take that would be some outstanding help. Also would hospitals/clinics support dedicated individuals with job placement ( any job within the hospital) during their course of study for ADN, BSN or MSN?

Thank you in advance.

Kindest Regards

HI,

I attend The Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort,SC to get my ADN. You would get instate tuition if you're in Effingham or Chatham Counties. I am in my first semester right now. I enjoy the program so far, the teachers are organized and good. I know that on paper they have a really good NCLEX pass rate.

We were just told a few days ago that once we are done with our first half semester that we can be a Student Nurse Intern at Beaufort Memorial. You can also get your CNA.

If you are not familiar with the area, it takes roughly an hour from Downtown Savannah to get to Beaufort.

I hope this helps you.

Stay in SC, it's a compact state. Also the GA BON is horrible and possibly the worst in the USA.

Thank you for your opinions. I have heard that GA education system was not that great (for the kids I researched that a little while ago) I will look more into ADN programs in SC. I got in touch with Midlands Technical College Columbia SC and found out that they had a waiting list. Is it that hard to get into a program lately? I heard that the demand has risen to medical carrers as a result of the mini recession but would it make it harder to find programs to get into?

edt: I also will call tcl today to get more information. Thank you very much for directing. ( it is a bit far from both cities I was considering but I wouldnt have a problem moving there as long as we can find employment)
