As the title suggests, I have a BS and MS already. I'm completing an ADN program now. . Does anyone know of an online "general" (no advanced practice role...just general leadership or something) MSN I can complete within a year after graduating? There's got to be a bridge for an MS-MSN or an accelerated BS-MSN. I'm familiar with the rn-msn bridge programs etc.. but i'm hoping someone has seen a program specifically shorter or suited to an MS-MSN. thanks!

The issue really is that a MSN and a MS are two distinct things, much like a BS and a BSN are two distinct things. It seems no matter what, the MSN will be approximately 2 years long.

Agree with PP. Also, why in the world would you want an MSN without any specialization? Graduate school is the point at which formal education in a specialty occurs. That's why the degree is valuable, career-wise.
Hypothetically, I prepare for a specialized graduate program that requires a BSN for entry. Wouldn't you agree that a generalized MSN, finished in say 1.5 years would be a better use of my time than a BSN in one year? I wouldn't have a problem with any of it if I wasn't basically "repeating" degrees I already have. Just want to make the best use of my time. Since I'm still undecided on a specialization, I think it would be wise to get a general MSN in place of the BSN...which could either serve as requirement for the BSN in one type of program, or give me credits towards an FNP type program (or even a post-masters certificate option later)
still wondering if anyone has any shorter MSNs than 2-3 years. There's got to be one out there.
You would also agree that some of those classes are not specialized... but are just "support" courses towards the masters. For example, I don't see the point in taking a research class or technical writing class again when I've already done those at a graduate level. I'm not trying to cut corners.. just don't want to repeat everything I've already done!
thanks
From what I've seen of the MSN programs, even if you want an equivalent of an MSN and already have a MSN, then it still takes 2 years.
I also have a BS/MS myself. The closest thing you could've gotten was a MSN-CNL prior to going into your ADN program. Those programs are generally 2 years or a little over 2 years. The only thing you might find is a MSN-CNL program for those that already have a RN but I haven't seen any of those myself.
appreciate the feedback!
