ADN, Moving to McKinney- who hires?

Specializes in ICU, ER.

I want to move to McKinney, TX but was unable to find a job after looking for 4 months while staying with family. I am an ADN with 27 yrs experience in Critical Care, and currently work, in ICU, in a large Florida System. I put in roughly 28 applications, all of which I qualified for, according to their ad. 6 Hospitals called me back and all wanted to hire me if I signed a paper saying I would complete a BSN within 2 years. I am 62 yrs old and was planning on working past age 65, but going back for a BSN would not be financially feasible and I would probably not see a financial return on my investment. Are there any hospital that hire ADN's? I was looking for something in telemetry/ step-down.

I would sign the paper and then change my mind. What do you have to lose if you're planning on retiring in a few years anyway?

McKinney is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and virtually all of the hospital systems in that area will not hire RNs without the BSN degree. You might need to commute to an outlying hospital such as Texoma Medical Center.

Another idea is to accept non-hospital employment in hospice, LTC, home health, private duty, psych, corrections, LTACH, or physical rehabilitation.

Thanks, I'll look into outlying areas.
