Admission Essay

I am new on here as far as me being a member but I have been stalking this website forever now. You guys are really helpful on here so you don't mind, I need help with writing my admission's essay. Here is what I am being asked:

On a separate sheet of paper describe and discuss in an essay: (1) yourself and your outlook on education; (2) your plan for successfully completing this nursing program within the required time; (3) things you have accomplished that have given you the greatest satisfaction; (4) your reasons for selecting nursing as a career; (5) any special reasons for desiring to enter this school; and (6) your plans and aspirations after graduation.

My questions are; does it matter in what order I reply to this questions. If it do, how can I answer the first question, I mean I know my outlook on education in all but that's going to be my opening statement and I don't know how to go about doing that. Please someone help me. I would also like to make this essay flow as I am answering each question (i am going crazy :banghead::banghead::banghead:). One more thing for question number 3 my answer as nothing to do with nursing or school do you think it would matter. Thanks ahead of time to everyone who will reply

I would not believe they need to be in any particular order, but I can see it making really good sense if you do follow the order they have listed (Describing yourself and value of education first...) As for #3 it certainly does not have to be nursing related or even medically related, it some type of personal achievement. I would start as you would with any other essay write your bullet points and answer them in short answer then organize them further into a pattern that flows well. Then throw in your more descriptive sentences. The points they want you to hit on do not have to be your opening or closing statements/paragraph. Be sure you use spell check and proper punctuation throughout, if you have a friend or two that are good at writing have them look over it as well. Good luck!

Thank you for replying to my post. I already have my ENC1101 and ENC1102 prof to check my essay out once I'm done

does it matter in what order i reply to this questions.

looking at the questions, i think the order is important, so, yes.

if it does, how can i answer the first question, i mean i know my outlook on education in all but that's going to be my opening statement and i don't know how to go about doing that.

well, you don't want to begin by saying you think formal education is essentially worthless and the best education is by the school of hard knocks. you don't want to say, "i hate opening books and reading because it is boring" or "formal education is just a way for the educational bureaucracy to make money off of poor students". they have a mission statement in their college catalog and it would be a good idea to look at it so you know what kind of attitude the school has toward learning. they want their students to live and breathe that same attitude toward education. why would the school take in a student who wouldn't
love
their school and go around telling everyone how
proud
they are to be one of their students? attending college or university is a privilege not a right and you need to impress them with how much you want to be a student of their school.
they want you to tell them how much you love being a student
. if you can't do that, then you won't be considered to be a student there--it's that simple.

i would also like to make this essay flow as i am answering each question (i am going crazy).

that's going to depend on your skills in english composition. that's one of the things the people reading these essays are going to be evaluating. one of the things you need to be mindful of is your spelling. if this is a bsn program i can guarantee that english composition skills are important and the nursing students are going to be writing lots and lots of scholarly papers for their instructors and professors. all bachelor programs in any subject area are like that.

one more thing for question number 3 my answer has nothing to do with nursing or school do you think it would matter.

no. we asked similar questions when we were interviewing potential employees for nursing jobs. they are looking to evaluate your character. there are specific
character traits
that they look for in future nurses. people can tell by the kinds of things you have done in your life whether you are a person who is capable of being of service to others or not. see

top 10 qualities of a great nurse.
if you want to see some other people's reasons for #4, see

-
what's your story? why did you become a nurse?

answer the questions in order. give the answer to the question that is asked.

1) yourself and your outlook on education
- evaluating your feelings and ideas about the importance of education and training

(2) your plan for successfully completing this nursing program within the required time
- they want to know what kind of thought, planning and preparation you have already put into attending their nursing program and that it includes completing it "
within the required time
". that's an interesting thing to include. they must have had a lot of people who don't finish on time.

(3) things you have accomplished that have given you the greatest satisfaction
- obviously completing things (see #3) is important for some reason to them. so, they don't like quitters. you need to talk about projects or things you were involved in that you worked with to the end even if it was the prom decoration committee, the yearbook staff, a food drive for the community, a play that you were in or a sweater you knitted from beginning to end and how
proud and satisfied
you felt when it was completed.

(4) your reasons for selecting nursing as a career
- i gave you a thread to look at. be as altruist as you want here.

(5) any special reasons for desiring to enter this school
- obviously, you don't want to insult them here

(6) your plans and aspirations after graduation
- they are looking to see if you have some goals in mind. have something ready to say.

keep a copy. if you get called for an interview they are likely to ask you questions based on what you wrote in this essay.
