Hi, I'm finishing up my pre-reqs this year and in September I'm planning on transferring to either Adelphi University or Molloy College to get a BSN. I've been hearing mixed things about both schools and they're both around the same price range, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if Molloy was really significantly better than Adelphi. Are Adelphi graduates really having a hard time finding jobs compared to Molloy graduates? Thanks.

Sorry this is late...I went to Molloy but left because it was too expensive. My friends who have graduated from the program had no problem finding jobs after they passed the NCLEX. Molloy really prepares you in class for clinical which is why i loved clinical and was comfortable helping people. I will say that some professors are really hit or miss attitude-wise (based on helpfulness and availability) and might go out of their way to fail you (picking favorites).I also warn you though that the head of the department is ruthless and very unprofessional. I have no idea what Adelphi is like though.

Hi molloy/ adelphi nursing students and tagapitos. Thankfully, I have been accepted to both adelphi and Molloy, but I am having a lot of difficulty making a final decision as to where I should attend. I have a few questions about both programs and whoever can answer them, I would really appreciate it!!! Does anyone know which school has a higher Nclex passing rate? Also, does anyone know the graduation rate ( percentage of students who make it through the program) of either school? Also, are the professors caring, supportive of the students, and want you to excel in your studies as well as become a great nurse at either school? Also. what is the difficulty level in terms of school work at either school and is it manageable? Also, tagapitos- what do you mean that the head of the nursing department at molloy is ruthless- does he/she have a big influence on your nursing school experience or is him/her's interaction with the students minimal and won't affect your experience? Thanks in advance for all of your help!!! I really appreciate all of the information I can get, so that I can make an informed decision!

I applied to both too. I don't have much of the information you're looking for but you can check out the NCLEX passing rates for each school here - http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nurseprogs.htm
Thanks so much Kem215 for replying! Are you leaning towards one school over the other?
Hi kem215 thanks so much for replying. The Nclex scores of both programs are pretty similar. By the way, are you leaning towards one school over the other?
Hi Lily! Right now my top school is Beth Israel but we'll see. It's a really hard school to get into. I have a BA-Psych/MSW so I'm not as concerned about having to go to a BSN program. If I don't get into BI, I'd lean more towards Molloy. Partly because it's a little more affordable but I've spoken some folks I know who teach in nursing. One of our good family friends is pretty up there as an administrator in a very reputable NY nursing program. She told me they're both very good schools but if she had to pick - she'd pick Molloy. She said ultimately the student has to go where they're comfortable because if you're not comfortable at the school and motivated to be there you're experience will be much more challenging. I can see her point.
She's heard Molloy can be a little tough to get classes at unless you're on top of it. A friend of mine graduated last year from Molloy and she said the same thing but she also said it's not imposible. You just have to register as soon as possible and keep on top of teachers about "hey put me on the wait list, I'm a nursing student in my 2nd year ..." Ya know? She was never shut out of a class she needed. As for Adelphi, I've heard very mixed reviews which run the gammet of "great" to "steer clear". So, I'd try to take it with a grain of salt and decide if it's the place for you and not go by what everyone says.
Hi kem! Best of luck on getting into Beth Israel. I also heard great things about the program. It is also a small school, so it is really nice that you get to know everyone.
Thanks for the info on molloy. I totally agree with you that you have to be comfortable with whatever you choose. Also, do you know why your friend whose an administrator thinks Molloy is a better choice? Also, was your friend who graduated form molloy happy with the nursing program and would she recommend it?
Hi Lily,
I emailed my friend who went to Molloy last night and she said, "Molloy is a great school. I liked it bc the classes were small and the teachers really knew who you were. The only bad thing is that it is expensive but worth it. They have a high nclex pass rate (thank god lol that test was horrible lol) I found that ALOT of hospitals liked molloy students and I know many of my graduating classmates were hired with me in the North shore LiJ fellowship programs. The hiring might be harder now but I think that's just bc of the econ. In 2 yrs it should be VERY difft."
When I spoke to our friend who's an admin, she said she prefered Molloy because people she's spoken to in the field always comment on how prepared they are. She also told me she'd heard Adelphi needed to boost it's NCLEX passing rates a lot but when I looked at Molloys they weren't that far off - so, like I said, grain of salt :)
Hi kem215!
Thanks again for getting a lot of info on Molloy. It sounds like a great school! I really like the fact that the class size is small, so you really get to know the student body as well as the faculty. As of now, I think I am going to go there. Best of luck on getting into Beth Israel, but if you decide on Molloy, I would love to see you around. If you find out anything else, please post and I will do the same. Take care!
