Address change violations!?

Updated:   Published

Hi! long time viewer, but first time poster here so I'm not quite sure I'm posting here correctly.

I got married in May and just got my name changed in the past week. I went to the BON online to renew my license (which expires at the end of this month) and change my name. It was only then I realized that it is a violation to not notify the board that you moved! I moved from Houston to Austin a year and a half ago when I got my first nursing job! I went ahead and renewed everything and emailed my new name and address to the board. Now I'm terrified that I will get my license suspended. Has this happened to anyone before?

My parents were living at my old address (the one set up with my license) so they were getting my mail, but they have since moved as well. They changed their address through the post office so they still receive stuff from the BON and send it to me (it's usually just newsletters and the one notice that my license needed to be renewed).

* I take full responsibility for not updating my address using the form. I just didn't realize the punishment would be so severe. The BON clarified that the suspension was ONLY because of the address, not the complaint.

I am surprised at the amount of paper that people are still receiving from nursing boards. My board sends everything electronically.

Mind you I only get about 2 pieces of paper mail a week, anything that I can send electronic to email or SMS alert to log into a portal is the way to go!
