Additional Nurse Practitioner Certifications

Specialties NP

Published

Hi all,

Are there any additional certifications that NPs can take to make them more marketable besides ACLS, PALS and getting national certification, e.g. ANCC? I know for nursing you can take a number of certifications like CCRN, etc. Is there anything similar for NPs?

Thanks!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Depending on the area where you want to work: maybe CEN or CCRN. For nephrology, we have an APN nephrology certification we can get.

There are actually a lot, depending on how you want to progress your career;

Some are NP other are advanced practice nurisng.

Urology- Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA)

Derm- DCNP Certification | The Dermatology Nurses' Association

Ortho- Orthopaedic Nursing Certification Board

Nephrology- NNCC

Oncology- Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation

Hospice- http://www.nbchpn.org/

Addiction- Addictions Nursing Certification Board - IntNSA

Child psych Welcome to The PNCB Web Site

Then there are certifications that are not NP specific but relate to the NP role:

Lipid management Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology

anticoagulation NCBAP: About the CACP Exam

There is almost a certification in anything..... So depending on how you want your career to develop there is probably a test you can take to support it.

Specializes in FNP, ONP.

Diabetes, BC-ADM. I have heard this is an exceptionally challenging exam, although you don't have to be a NP to sit for this exam.

The most prestigious is the DCC (Diplomat of Comprehensive Care). You must be DNP prepared to sit for this exam.

I can't think of any others.
