Adding Outpatient Clinic experience to Resume

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I worked in a hospital for over 13 years and have that part of my resume down pat. However, I took a RN job in a clinic last year and am updating my resume. My current job is not very challenging, and I am looking for ways to "spice it up" on paper. Any help appreciated.

Some of my job duties:

*obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures

*call in refills as appropriate

*obtain medication list and vital signs

*enter orders and referrals into computer and ensure they are completed

*assist in securing hospitalization for patients in crisis (I work in Behavioral Health)

*administer injections from patient's home supply of medications

*call patients with testing results as instructed by physician

*talk with patients via telephone and communicate their needs to the physician -follow through with physician orders/instructions

*In collaboration with receptionist, check upcoming appointments to ensure insurance information/authorizations is complete

*Meet with psychiatrist every morning to discuss patients for the day and review their history and medications

*Manage office supplies including medication samples

*arrange for meetings with drug reps

Im sure there are things I am missing, but again, any help appreciated!!

Here are my suggestions to "spice it up:

Clincial and administrative management of pt's clinical progress; includes medication management and obtaining referrals for necessary treatments, etc.

*assist in securing hospitalization for patients in crisis (I work in Behavioral Health)

Triage of pts for appropriate referral for patients in crisis

*administer injections from patient's home supply of medications *call patients with testing results as instructed by physician *talk with patients via telephone and communicate their needs to the physician -follow through with physician orders/instructions

Medication administration;

Collaboration and coordination with physician to ensure timely test results and recommendations to pts

In collaboration with receptionist, check upcoming appointments to ensure insurance information/authorizations is complete *Meet with psychiatrist every morning to discuss patients for the day and review their history and medications *Manage office supplies including medication samples *arrange for meetings with drug reps

This can be summarized under clinical and administrative management.

Hope this helps!
