I went to a holistic fair they were hosting at one of the hospitals near me and I went hoping to network. They were offering membership for $25 and I jumped at it. I had looked at their website before, but don't know which specialty I'm interested. I am interested in reiki and theraputic touch, as well as music therapy. One place I worked at actually had a music therapist and I thought that was wonderful. A friend of mine also thought I might be interested in the AHNA since he does some CAM himself....reiki, ear candles, biomat.
I just hope I can afford the renewal fee this June.
Wonderful! I hope it is a great opportunity for you. I had looked at
joining years ago, but went back to school for medical aesthetics.
There was a great course on Aromatherapy for nurses that I think is
still around where you get certified. If you are interested in that field
let me know and I will try to find the course info for you.
I only bought the book and it was excellent.
Best wishes, keep us posted on you journey in holistic nursing modalities...

This is the first professional organization I've joined since I graduated. I just wish I could afford the classes offered in my area for CE's. I found it amazing how we as nurses used to not look at the whole patient, just the illness. Even doctors, some anyway, are beginning to see things more holisticly. Since I'm still looking for that 1st RN job I'm trying to treat myself more holisticly and to get myself to a more healthy place.
How many have actually joined the AHNA?
