ACNP/RNFA salary negotiations

Published

I will be completing a general/minimally invasive fellowship in May and without being too specific, can anyone tell me what is an acceptable salary for someone with less than 2 years experience? The surgeon that I work with says that he wants to keep me, so I would like to have a salary in mind when we have the conversation. My job duties are inpatient rounding, putting in lines, and assisting in surgery. Thanks in advance.

So you can be an NP and an RNFA?

I am a ACNP have worked surgically for neuro and vascular. Track everything you do and ask your hospital for a record of the RVUs you generated this is s good way to have leverage when salary negotiations come up. I have my own clinic and also first assist I do not have a rnfa because that is not necessary for acute care nps. If pt has Medicare you will get decent reimbursement for your services. Nps tend to be detailed especially in clinic notes so bill high level 4/5 for new consults.. Also if you assist in surgery, endoscopic vein harvest, open vein harvest, pulse generator placement wound closure etc, your hospital will bill insurance and you may get paid extra for first assist. I can get up to 50 dollars for general first assist duties per case. we do 20-30 cases per month so it's nice extra money on top of salary.. hospital will pay it out quarterly.
