ACNP Interview

Published

Hi everyone!

I am currently in my first quarter of my MSN for ACNP. Our instructor asked us to interview someone in the field to get better insight on our future careers. Would anyone be interested in answering any of the following questions? If you are in California, that is even better! I would truly appreciate it!

Thank you in advance,

Future ACNP

  1. Why did you become an ACNP?
  2. How long have you been practicing as an ACNP?
  3. How did you get your current job?
  4. What national certification do you currently hold and why?
  5. Describe how consistent your role is with what you thought it would be when you first started your job.
  6. What is your role regarding development of standardized procedures?
  7. What is your role regarding medical coding and billing?
  8. What do you wish you had learned in school that would have better prepared you to be successful as an ACNP?
  9. What advice can you give me as I begin my education?
  10. What do you like the best/least about the ACNP role?
  11. Describe how your understanding of the ACNP role changed as you went through your educational program.
  12. What professional organizations do you belong to and why are these memberships beneficial/not beneficial?

Specializes in Cardiac, Home Health, Primary Care.

I'll just warn you now (I'm FNP so couldn't answer your questions anyway):

You will be told that you should meet face to face with a ACNP because there is no way to verify that anybody here is truly a nurse. Plus the assignment is likely to get you to network.

Contact local ACNP schools, local hospitals, etc. and ask if there is any way to set up a meeting rather than letting some random person here answer your questions.

I've been around enough to see this type of thing with MANY RN students and I have seen the responses.

Just be prepared!

Thank you! I hadn't even thought about the validity of the responses. I will expand my horizons:)
