I am trying to change specialty (I used to work in NICU) and I decided to go for an ACLS certification to improve my curriculum. I need some advice about a good and not so expensive ACLS course at the Atlanta area. What about the online courses? Are they good?
Thanks :)

You can contact AHA online to see where the training centers are in your area, but I imagine most of the hospitals qualify.
The prices will be about the same for all of them.

OOPS - I got interrupted.

If you take the course online BE SURE it is an AHA certified course. There are online courses that state "based on AHA guidelines" but these are NOT AHA courses and the certificate you get is worthless. You can go to the AHA website for the "ACLS Anywhere" CD, which will allow you to do the didactic portion online. HOWEVER, you will still need to do the competencies with a certified instructor (s). So you might end up paying twice. Larger hospitals have competency labs set up and may allow you to attend, but expect to pay as they are responsible for the card they give you and the paperwork they maintain for AHA (and you, if needed).
Good luck!
Also, there is a website for practicing ACLS skills - no credit, but kinda fun (www.skillstat.com)
Thanks Classicdame :) I'm new here and took me some time to find out how to reply/thank you.

You actually have to purchase this CD to do on your home computer. There is no "on-line" ACLS course sanctioned by AHA at this time. Unfortunately it is pretty spendy and the test can only be taken once. After that you have to buy additional "keys" which are just codes you type in. I like the format but found it pretty difficult at first and I've been ACLS certified for at least 15 years. Also it doesn't work on a MAC (found this out way too late). The computer simulation is really, really cool!
