I am a new RN in the US looking for a position. I understand that in order to get a job I have to get ACLS, BCLS certificate. Where can i get the certificate? Is it OK to do an internet course? Are they expensive?
I hope somebody can help me with this. Thanks

Internet courses aren't offered for initial CPR/ACLS certification. There is a skills component to these classes that must be checked off.

I just re-entered a postion that requires ACLS, I was nervous but found on the web a place called ezcpr.com, they are in So Cal not sure if any around you, BUT it was fun and easy. Its a write off too. Some hospitals will reinburse you but check first on thier policy.
Thank you guys for your great help. I found a CPR class and already have registered with them. I will do this first.
About ACLS...... It's so expensive : 260$. I don't know if i should do it. I've heard about the hospitals that hired you they pay for it. Is it true?
I don't know what to do?
Thanks and I appreciate a lot your help!
It's a hard decision. It is an expensive course. Some people take it before they apply so that their job application will look stronger. If you can get hired without ACLS, you're correct that your employer will probably offer it for free.
I see .Anyway thanks for advice.

There is a company in the Sacramento/ Natomas area, that offers ASHI ACLS and PALS certification. Its cheaper then some of the other programs out there, but if you are employed already you should check with compliance or HR to be sure that your facility take ASHI certification. The program is a traditional "in class" training that covers all the same algorithms, but issues a different cert.

I am also looking to being ACLS certified. I saw several classes online and the cheapest I saw was $200. I am planning to go to NorCal EMT, where I had my BLS certification, and get my ACLS there since Im quite familiar with them now...its $215. They are at Rancho Cordova, just off 50 and zinfandel if I remember right. I just keep telling myself that if I get hired, Id get all those money back, whether reimbursed or not...
