Ok....here's the deal.
I will be applying to 2 schools.....School A (which I'm a current student as they
ARE SACS accredited) for fall and School B for Spring 2010.
School B was also my "plan B" incase I wasn't accepted to School A's program.
My plans for nursing are to further my education (these are both accelerated BSN
prog's) and get my MSN/NP.
School A is on my states BON site. It's a new program and the first class won't
graduate until 6 mos. before me (saying I go). They have applied for accreditation
but of course they are so new that their accreditation may not even be in by the
time I should graduate. This school is 15 mins from my house. Let me add that the
sister school to this one IS accredited w/CCNE.
School B is well established and is fully accredited by the CCNE and is on the BON
site (not accredited w/NLNAC). This school is 2hrs away, but close to my Mom's.
The distance is not an issue after talking w/my husband and Mom.
Would you still go through with applying to School A's program?
My plan was to apply to both anyways and decide from the results what to do. I
don't want any accreditation (or lack thereof) to cause any trouble later on.

Personally, I prefer my degrees to be worth more than the paper they're printed on, so I'd stay away from anyplace whose accreditation is at issue, let alone non-existant. However, others may have differing opinions from me, especially as I'm unmarried and not currently working, so moving to go to school is/was much less of an issue with me than for others.

Since your plans include MSN/NP I would go with School B.
Squire and tfleuter....thank you very much for your thoughts on this. I've been grappling with it for a while now and now that June is just a couple months away...I've been thinking about it a lot more. I appreciate your insights.
Thx!!
