Accidental delivery of PPD

:idea: I'm a nursing student and just wondering if anybody can help me.

What will be the complication or adverse reaction if a Purified Protein Derivative (PPD), for Montaux test, is accidentally delivered vascularly? I've researched this on several websites, but they say is to be carefull not to administer it on the blood vessel. They did not even explain what will happen or a reaction.

I think the main issue is that you would not get wheal formation with IV/IM/SC injection, so you wouldn't have a valid test to interpret. There are a few very rare complications of PPD (like anaphylaxis or an immediate hypersensitivity reaction), but I don't see anything that indicates that they are more likely with IV injection.
