accepting money for CRNA school

Published

I have a question. I was recently accepted into CRNA school and will be starting next fall. The anesthesia group in town is willing to give me $30,000 for school for a five year commitment. Do you recommend taking money from anesthesia groups?

Thanks

I think (correct me if I am wrong) what one poster was hinting at was the supply sometimes meets demand in specific locations. From what I understand, for instance, in the UAB area, the market for CRNAs is not that good. Sign-on bonuses are down due to saturation. A senior from our school told me this after speaking to several UAB area providers so this comes firsthand.

Saturation is not common and most groups are in the hole as far as having needed staff. In addition to the shortage, people come and go for various reasons.

So we're saying that most areas still have CRNA openings, but the big bonuses and other attractions are disappearing in some?

I think the poster was specifically speaking of the UAB area. Keep in mind there are 2 schools located near there (UAB and Samford) and the fact that UAB graduates a large number of people every year doesn't help matters for that region. Samford has yet to have a graduating class, the school started last year I believe.
