Accepted DON Position!

So...I accepted a DON position at a small 60 bed facility. So nervous and excited at the same time. I am nervous about the approach and how the staff will receive me. Any advice is helpful. Thanks in advance.

Exactly, they are judging you in the beginning. All the time you spend getting to know them "really know them....."Jane, thanks for being as dedicated to your residents as you are. I know your son is ill right now but you have been right here every day you are scheduled. I REALLY appreciate your dedication."

This in the beginning will go a LONG way when you need your team on their "point" and pulling together!

Thank you all for your advice! I will post updates on how things are going.

How are things coming along?

Things are coming along ok. The building has great staff! Some policies and procedures are not being followed correctly, so I am doing education with the staff. I have a great ADON and a unit manager. Some days have been better than others!
