Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

Published

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

No way am I printing one of the files that is 80 pages long! I'll just go ahead keep the file in hand and refer to it when needed because I highly doubt we will be going through each page.

Has anybody heard anything about the skills lab attendance for today? Yes, no, maybe???

So, in case anyone's late on this like me, this site is good for renting books Knetbooks - Textbook Rentals rented 3 of the main books we need for under $100. I still doubt I get ALL of the "required" text books, but the site has a ton. I don't work for them, just passing on the info.

Has anyone filled out an evaluation for the orientation held last week?

I've done the evaluation.

Does anyone know if scrubs are required for the first 3 weeks of clinical being held at Truman?

Has anyone heard about whether or not skills lab starts this week?

Does anyone have any advice how to be successful with all those assigned readings? I do not mean to skip the reading, only to get the most out of it, to understand and memorize it.Any hint will be highly appreciated, and I wish all of us GOOD LUCK!

I give myself a quick quiz on the assigned chapters in UPrep / Craven before reading as a pretest. It helps me see the focus of the material in advance and to budget my time for more difficult chapters. Then I skim the PowerPoint for the chapter, then I do the reading. For me, it speeds up the reading a lot to know the key points in advance.

The Craven book is a little wordy so I take steps to see the focus before reading, which helps me save time and retain the material a little better.

Thank you

newyork27. Your advice is priceless to me. I've been start using PrepU and I have to admit that this helps me a lot. Thank you one again and good luck...

So does anyone have a twin bed I can practice bedmaking on?? That flew by with those 35 steps!

Read all craven and do craven online (upass) questions. then move on to hogan. if you have time do the rest of readings.
