Acceptance letters from N Georgia (UNG) Fall 2013

Published

Has anyone heard when acceptance letters will be mailed out??

If you hear anything, please let everyone know!!

So I just received my nursing welcome packet today which doesn't give me much time to get all of my paper work turned in and take CPR class. I'm a little concerned about that... Anyway, do any of you know if CPR class is available on Mondays, my only day off of work? :) Also... And most importantly... In the nursing packet it says to ask the CPR instructor to send the information and that the certification card may take at least 2-3 weeks before receiving. Do we need that before the deadline of July 31? Or can we have our instructor send information before we get the card? Because if not I'd literally have to take CPR class right this second to be able to turn the paper work in before the deadline. So nervous! Also I don't have medical insurance or a primary care physician so I can't go there to get a physical which is also required, I was thinking about going to the health department and get them to give me the remainder of my shots and fill out the paper work since I have a copy of my shot records... How did you all go about getting tested for tuberculosis? Do you know if the health department could do it? Lastly, did you all pay your confirmation deposit yet? I found out I got into the program only a few days ago, but should probably go ahead and pay that now! Haha

Also did you guys mail or email your confirmation/agreement that was in your packet? They need to have received it by noon next Monday (June 24) or else they remove you from the program and I'm afraid if I mail it first thing tomorrow, then they may not receive it on time :S it says you can email it, but I don't know if they mean you type up an agreement via email or scan and send a PDF file of your filled out agreement that's in the packet

I would just go on the American Heart Association Website and find the closest site to you that will do Mondays. When I took it they gave me my card after class. All I did was copy it and send it in with all the rest of the paperwork. I was given a deadline of July 12th for all my paperwork. So yes you will need all the information turned in to keep your slot.

The health department should be able to give you a physical as well as start your Hep B shots and any additional shots you need. They can fill the Medical Report out as well. They also do tuberculosis shots.

I paid my confirmation deposit with the school before the May 31 deadline but was told that the nursing department has a special arrangement since they have rolling admissions, so you should go ahead and pay it.

I think I answered all of your questions. Lol

I emailed my confirmation to Ms. S the day I received my mail as well as to the generic nursing department email they gave us. The turn around time for my mail would have cut it pretty close. I just sent an email saying I am confirming my acceptance into the program. I didn't scan and send a PDF file. They replied and said "Thank You".

So you just got your acceptance letter yesterday?? I was guessing they wouldn't send anymore out till the end of July, after the second round of acceptance letter had turned in their paperwork? And Congratulations!!

I'm waiting on an acceptance, I received my wait list letter in February. I emailed them last week and they said only a "few" may be going out later. That scares me! :( I can't take the disappointment a second time around!

Ashbrook1091, I am in the same boat as you. Still waiting. I was hoping another batch of letters would go out in the end of July. They told you they are almost full?? So are they calling people now before they send acceptance letters out? I was told I was in the top list also. (middle of the top.)

A friend of mine got accepted in July the year I was accepted, so there's always hope, ladies.

Thank you so, so much! I'll go up to the health department. I see that we need a flu shot as well, do you or anyone reading this know if we need that by the deadline? Since I often don't hear anything about flu shots being available until much later in the year. I'm sure that's something I can ask the health department and nursing department though. Thanks again!

Hi! They actually called me and asked if I want to fill a slot. Then I waited about a week and then I received a "welcome packet" that included a letter saying, "Congratulations, we are giving you the opportunity to fill a slot, etc etc" and it includes a confirmation form where you specify if you want to take that slot or not. I'm not sure what they're doing rounds of letters, but I'm crossing my fingers for you! Being in the middle of the top is so good! I was in the top, but the didn't tell me whether I was in the top, middle of bottom of the "top" bracket. I wish they had so I can give you an idea of whether or not there will be a slot available. Crossing my fingers! :D

Thank you so much!!! :)

It sounds very probable that they would send out letters after they receive paper work, or after they receive students' confirmation letters stating whether or not they want to start the program. Again my letter was simply part of a packet rather than an actual letter sent solely to inform me of an open slot. Make sure you check your phone for missed calls too as that was how the nursing dept contacted me regarding the slot!

I was contacted by email by the Nursing Counselor that some minor stuff on my Medical Report form was missing. Since I'm out of the country, they've extended my deadline to Aug. 1st. :

-)

They've been very accommodating with me due to my circumstances (I won't be back till July 29th.).

That's so good to know! They gave me about a month to get everything in, but considering the fact that they work with you I'm no longer as afraid that I may turn in paper work that has an error and then they'll drop me, haha.

You get your flu shot when next years vaccine is out, probably early fall.
