Acceptance Dilemma

Published

I just got into the ABSN program at MCPHS :)!!! However they want a hefty deposit within thirty days. I won't hear from most of my other schools by then. I have my heart set on one school in particular. Would it be poor etiquette to request my application to be reviewed early (its already in and completed?)? I think I would just be honest with them and tell them they are my top choice but I already got accepted into another program that is requiring a deposit soon. I need to know so that I don't end up not going to school next year because I was waiting on my top choice. I would have to ask for a long extension on the deposit as I wouldn't hear from dream school until June if I wait the usual amount of time. Any suggestions? I don't know what to do

Call your top school ask them what they can do for you. The worst is they could do is say no. Is your "hefty deposit" refundable if you get in to your top school? I wouldn't let this BSN program get away nursing schools can be quite competitive if you pass it up who knows what it will look like next year. Best of luck.

If you do the deposit, it will be your little safety net. How much is it btw? Schools around here ask for $100-200 which isn't too bad.

They want $500 which is a lot to eat so I've been in touch with schools so I'm hoping I can work something out...

Wow, that is rough. Is the peace of mind that you WILL be going to *a* nursing school this application round worth $500 to you?

Is your dream school worth waiting another application round for, in case you don't get in or get wait-listed?

Good luck with your hard decision!!

I would contact the school that wants the deposit and ask for an extension. Don't tell them that you are waiting on another school, just say you are experiencing financial difficulty or that your financial aid has hit a snag. Many times schools are willing to work with you on these deferments. Also, I would call your dream school and ask for them to possibly review your application first. They probably won't considering admission is usually based on everyone's applications pitted against one another, but you can always try!

Good luck and congrats on getting into A school!
