Accelerated nursing program at university of miami or florida atlantic university

U.S.A. Florida

Hello all, I am a Canadian aspiring nurse who wants to get into an accelerated nursing program in the united states. I was just wondering how competitive my stats are in general for an accelerated nursing program in the U.S and whether i have a chance for admission AT the univesity of miami and florida atlantic accelerated programs(if any one could tell me the average GPA admission stats that would be awesome). I was also wondering whether the fact that I am an international student will affect my application and whether i must be more competitive then in state or even outstate American students to be admitted. Any input or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks for your time for all those who prospectively reply, i greatly appreciate it!:nuke::wink2::redbeathe

I am sorry to bother you again, but now that you were accepted, could you please tell me a little bit more about how hard the program is ? how many hours do you study? etc?

Thank you so much for sharing with us this information!!

I graduated from FAU's accelerated program in May of this year. It definitely isn't easy... but it's not impossible, I graduated with very good grades. It's very time consuming, don't expect to have much time to do anything else besides classes/clinicals/studying. However, I didn't think the 1st semester was too difficult (others did, but I guess I was expecting worse than it was), so it's a good transition... 2nd and 3rd semester were extremely busy though. Also, I found it comforting to know that you still get all the normal school breaks, so after summer you get a break, winter break/spring break/etc.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!! I have learned a lot already with your experience! would you please share your gpa before you entered the program?I did not score too high in the HESI (83 average) but I have a good gpa (3.84). Do you think I have a chance?

Thank you again!!

Hey Brina, I just got into the accelerated bsn program for this may, and I am wondering if you could answer a couple questions for me...

Are the classes in the program with all of the other undergrads and/or nursing students, or are they classes exclusively designed for the accelerated BSN class of that year?

Does it feel like a "personal atmosphere" despite the fact that it's at a somewhat huge school??

Please let me know what you think if you have the time! It would help so much:)
