Accelerated BSN, interested in CRNA school

I am a 25 year old male that will graduate December 2012 with my BSN from the University of Rochester's accelerated one year program for non-nurses. My current nursing GPA is a 3.68 with 16 credits left to complete this semester, all of which Im projected to receive an A or A- in the courses. I have a BS in biology and a minor in chemistry (3.8gpa) from a St John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. While completing my first degree I worked as an anesthesia tech for a total of four years both part time and full-time, where I had a variety of responsibilities of cleaning and stocking to scheduling and interviewing new employees for the department. When I started my BSN program this past January I transferred to the Cardio Thoracic ICU where i've been working perdiem.

My options right now are to work at my current hospital, its a medium-large size hospital, level 2 trauma center. The ICU i work on is a 12 bed unit that receives primarily post-op CABG patients and associated to the #1 cardiac program in NY. My other option is to goto the hospital associated to my university, Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. They are a level I trauma and tertiary hospital for the area.

Currently I am looking at jobs and want peoples opinions as to where I should apply for the most well rounded experience for acceptance to CRNA school. Also Im interested in hearing what you think about my chances of being a strong candidate for acceptance to CRNA school?

I don't know what your chances are, but I am impressed at your resume. I also noticed you are male and I am not being sexist when I say this, but males tend to have an easier time getting in. That's what I have heard and seen with a few people. Best of luck to you!

Schools just want you somewhere where you are going to see a lot of sick pt's, have to manage fluids, ABGs, and multiple drips. Wherever you work that you can get that is where you should work. CVICU where you are at right now is a great place to get that experience. Your gpa looks great, so go get some great experience, get your ccrn, get on committees, and you should be golden. oh, and of course do well on the gre.
