ACC Mobility Fall 2021

Published

Hey guys, anyone else out there putting in their application for mobility track Fall 2021? Are you an LVN, medic, surg tech, RT, etc? I just applied yesterday. Looking forward to see how this plays out.

PS- Any medics who get in, I think you guys are amazing and would like to form a study group to collaborate. I'll help with the nursing side and would love some viewpoints on the ACLS/CC/skills side.

Thanks for the info,  EDWannaBe2020!   The ones under 1105 don’t seem to be nursing specific to me?  Weird...I would hope I know how to apply ted hose after all these years ? I’ll be at EVC from 430-850 pm.  Not looking forward to that time frame LOL

LOL ted hose... honestly, I work nights so I never put them on, I always take them off and replace with SCDs if they are ordered (and actually in stock in central supply which is like only 50% of the time). When I did my LVN @ ACC I would ALWAYS lose points on check offs for forgetting to close the imaginary door or curtain to "provide privacy." I worked in the ER for two years, no such thing as privacy most of the time. Drove me bonkers!

OMG you have SCD’s? ?. That’s rare LOL. I remember doing checks offs and having to “act.”  I always got points off for random things too....I don’t particularly enjoy that part but I guess we have to do it!  Do y’all have any idea if the mobility program qualifies for student aid?  Some Accelerated BSN programs don’t qualify and I was just thinking about it....?

Yes, we have SCD's, and patients refuse them probably 70% of the time LOL. I imagine the program will qualify for aid, but that's something you'll want to get with financial aid about. I'm using my GI Bill, so it's a bit different. Also, yes, I hate acting because things are so much easier in real life. It is so weird dealing with a dummy who doesn't talk back or using imaginary supplies. However, putting in a Foley on a dummy is 1000x easier than a real patient ?

How’s everyone doing?  This ranking process is taking too long ?.   EDWannaBe2020, how is nursing skills 2?  This first one has pretty much been a review for me and I’m thankful for that bc I’m taking two other classes right now for my BSN.  We definitely had some complications with the ongoing pandemic and then the snow storm.  I kinda feel bad for new students entering the field as they didn’t get much hands on practice at all.  Well, here’s to hoping we all get accepted ?

@RJK Skills is a tad crazy because we lost so much time due to the reasons you already mentioned. We have our final exam next week which covers everything from physical assessment to IV therapy to NG tubes and wound care. 10 modules total. And we have our mastery checkoff the same day on Wednesday. We can get any skill and we just got the check off sheets for them last week so it's a bit crammed. We could end up doing an IM, IVP (via PIV or Central line), or IVPB med on top of a focused assessment and one other skill (could be trach suctioning, foley catheter insertion, dropping an NG tube whether salem sump or dobhoff, or Central line dressing change and cap change.) Only NGT is non-sterile. I'm hoping for Foley or Central Line dressing change because they are straightforward and harder to mess up.

I also have a statistics exam due by next Wednesday and me and my kids are sick with a stomach virus. So it's been a tough week.

Wow ?. That is a lot of info to give you right before the mastery!  I’m sure you know most of it though!! Just more difficult to do it the the way they want ?.  Hope you and the kiddos feel better soon!  Summer for you should be nice, no skills class?  I have to get my second COVID vaccine the day before finals ? I’m hoping I won’t be too sick to function through all that.

Hello! I wanted to see if anyone has received their ranking letter yet!? I also applied for the mobility track program for fall 2021! I finally received my TBON approval letter in the mail took literally 30 days! This process is so long it’s crazy!

@Autumn0122- My guess is that they don’t start that until near the end of the month.  From what I’ve heard, nothing comes too soon with the ranking/acceptance letters.  The anticipation is killing me too, and my last name is pretty far down on the list ?.   Good luck ?

@RJK thanks for the reply! Good luck also. Hopefully soon enough we will hear something. I wish we could just skip straight to acceptance letters! Are you taking Rnsg 1140 over the Summer by any chance!?

@Autumn0122 no prob!  I wish we could skip to the acceptance letters as well ?. I’m signed up for the early lab in 1140.  @EDWannaBe2020–how did everything work out for you?!  Hope it went well!

@RJK I am also signed up for the early lab. I keep debating would it be smarter to have the later lab just in case we have a lab practical. I still see 7 seats are available thought for sure they would all be gone!
