Hey everyone,
Just wanted some advise. I've got a Bachelor's degree in psych and I decided that I would use that towards getting my BSN. Everyone pretty much told me that I should do an accelerated course so I applied to a few different schools and I was just accepted into the San Marcos-24 month program.
So I have a few questions:
1) Has anyone done or heard of the program? 24 months doesn't seem very accelerated; am I wrong? Is it a good program to get into or should I try for a different one?
2) I'm told that it is expensive and that I won't be able to work very much. Previously, the military paid for my school expenses so I have little idea about what other options are open to me. I've applied for FAFSA and did qualify for the $12,500.00 but that only gets me part of the way there. What are some other examples/options available for me to help pay?
Any information would be great.
Thanks!

Hi,
I work at a hospital where the BSN students from UC San Marcos do their clinicals. This is a great program from what I can see. Several of their graduates have been hired by my hospital after doing an externship. True, there are shorter accelerated BSN programs but they may be including the externship.
As far as payment, private loans are usually the way to go. Most of us got em.
Best of luck!
Thanks! I figured out why it's so long. The first semester is pretty much another round of general ed requirements. If not for them the whole program would be around 18-19 months.

Hi deemalt (hopefully you are still around). Have you heard of Cal State San Marcos grads entering the workforce as ICU nurses? I am highly motivated to get straight into ICU and I will be applying to this program very soon. Thank you for your time.
