abortion and pregnancy

okay here is my question. does having multiple abortions decrease your chances of having a baby in the future? i know that the procedure is a lot safer than some surgeries. i even heard that it is safer than actually having a baby. how much would you think it affects fertility?? thanks in advance for your replies.

Statistically, there is little effect on pregnancy/fertility at all with legal, first-trimester abortion. But multiple traumas to the cervix, theoretically, can cause problems later-----but this is even controversial. A person really should ask her doctor these questions. There are lots of variables and a medical history to consider, information to which no one on the board is privvy.

Also, it would depend on the actually type abortions/procedures a person had as to the effect they may have later on.

I can only say that late term abortion could potentially lead to incompetent cervix (Of course, like anything else in medicine, there are lots of different opinions on this). If a woman had had that procedure, then she should discuss with her doctor careful monitoring of her cervical length, and be very aware of the signs of PTL.
