Abington Dixon School of Nursing

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi all,

Wondering if there are any applicants to Abington Memorial Hospitals Dixon School of Nursing for the 2011 year?

I originally applied for 2010 early decision, but ultimately was placed on the waiting list. Because I wasn't accepted for 2010, I now have to re-take A&P 1 & 2  (past the 5 year mark by 2 months on A&PII). I have all of my stuff in for this years early decision and have decided to re-take the teas test.

i'm very bitter about not being accepted because i can't understand why. I had a gpa of 3.8 and my teas scores were good enough for early decision. my only negative comment from them was that I could do a bit better on the math portion. I have been at Manor College since Spring 2010 and am currently holding down a 4.0 GPA- if they don't accept me this year I think I will just go absolutely crazy!

Just wondering if there are any others out there in the same boat....

My interview is on the 15th! Super excited....so are you applying for e/w as well? Are you on FB?

My interview went very well i think. They had a lot of good to say about my Teas scores and my grades.

Crossing my fingers that I get accepted! Oh the waiting game is brutal.

How was your interview??

Yes i am applying for e/w only and am on Facebook (Kelly Richards - Huntingdon Valley,PA)

is it a group interview?

Specializes in ER.
is it a group interview?

Mine was not, and I am not aware of anyone that had a group interview.

is it a group interview?

no, they do one on one interviews for the applicants.

I recently applied to Abington and didn't realize they do an interview process. When do they normally call you?

Application deadline is Nov 15th for Early decision, and deadline for Regular decision is Jan 15th. I've heard they only interview about 60% of the applicants, so you may not even get one. I have read about someone on here getting in without an interview, so good luck!! Did you apply for e/w or day?

I emailed Angela yesterday and she said only about 20% get interviewed and it's because they met minimum requirements. I applied for the e/w program but I'm doubtful I'll even get in now that I've read through all these posts on here. I'm finished all my requirements but everyone here has As and I have like some As mostly Bs and some Cs it's very discouraging!

who does the interviewing at abington? and is it just one person or more who interview you?

don't be discouraged- just make sure to either keep steady grades or try to improve upon them. Abington has said to me that they look at many factors, not just gpa- they like to see improvement over time. I currently have a 3.8 gpa at my current college, but because of courses in the past (even 8 years ago) it has recalculated my gpa down to like a 2.7 or something- so don't look at it that way.

Angela is usually part of the interview, along with 2 other people. I've had 2 interviews because I was placed on the wait list last year and had 3 people interview each time.

There was a previous thread on here where the students who are in the current 2010-2011 e/w class posted during the application process. Most of them received their acceptance letters on or about Feb 18th of last year.

I can see how the whole thing is overwhelming though, i'm in the same boat. I messed up after high school and dropped out, leaving a couple f grades in my path. I honestly don't know what I will do if I don't get in this time around- i'm already having to re-take A&P I & II because of the 5 year cut off, and if I don't get in this year, I will have to retake Micro. The waiting game is awful!

I'm glad I'm not the only one in the same boat. I have been working my butt off and sometimes I feel like I do all that I can and it isn't good enough. I also work full time so I think that's a feat in itself! I wish you good luck and they called me for an interview so I hope that goes well! Have you gone for yours yet?

Hello,

I understand all to well. I have been called in for an interview at Abington School of Nursing. I have completed all of my pre-reqs. Now I must wait to hear if I have been accepted?

Yup. Once you have completed the interview, then you wait. Good luck!
