I've been reading a number of threads lately that use the abbreviation "noc". I'm just wondering what that stands for. I tried doing a search for it but no results came up. I've kinda gathered that it's night shift, but I'm still unsure. And I'm very curious because I work nights on a surgical floor. Can someone bring me into the loop? Thanks a lot.

I am so surprised that so many people don't know that one....I learned it as part of medical terminology as a CNA.
Well, of course I know that nocturnal means "night". I just figured that the 'n' would stand for something, the 'o' would stand for something else and then the 'c' for something as well. Or maybe I was just hoping that it would. Kinda like a lot of other abbreviations: CNA, LPN, RN, etc. Oh well. Thanks, though.
No, I mean so many seem not to know what "noc" means, that it's short for nocturnal. I learned "noc" along with all other abbreviations.
I see, I see. I think I'm thinking more of an acronym. Now I feel like an idiot. heheh
Ah, I see! Okay, I see where that could be confusing, since so many others are acronyms.
