AANP FNP Exam

I PASSED!!!

I know when I was preparing for the AANP FNP exam I read many a post, so I wanted to tell you guys what my experience was like. I graduated in December, but did not start studying until my daughter's winter break was over. I gave myself a month to study and scheduled my exam while I was still a student (you can apply up to 6 months before you want to take it, and just send them an unofficial transcript while you wait to graduate and have your degree conferred date listed on your official transcript). I studied by doing the Hollier (APEA) review course on-line (I was majorly slacking so it took me a little more than 2 weeks to complete them all). And I did the questions in the back of Leik's review book. Her questions were similar to the ones on the exam. I did the questions as if it was the exam, and did this twice (so 150 questions, and then the next 150 questions). I got 77% and 78%. Leik is supposed to have ANCC type questions, but I really did not feel that was true at all. In the 308 questions I did, none were on nursing theory, nor select all that apply. When I went in to take the exam, they gave me scratch paper and a pencil and locked my keys and wallet in a bag that hung behind me. They also provided ear plugs. I got a lot of geriatric questions which is great since I am a Med-Onc nurse and I know my geriatrics! Pediatrics is my weakest point, so score! I did not get a cranial nerve question at all, and only a couple skin questions. There was a lot of CHF questions though. I also did not get a thalassemia question even though Hollier said I would. I did get a pernicious anemia question though. Thank you all for reading and posting. One post in particular said that she was getting scores in the low 70's on some exam review site and that she passed, so I took that as a super good omen since I was scoring in the upper 70's in my practice tests.
