Module 5 - LNC Practice Skills for Medical Records

Medical Record Analysis This module is the first of two modules that focus on medical records and how they relate to the LNC. In the first chapter, access to medical records will be explained. You will learn about the various laws, confidentiality rules, mandatory disclosure, medical record admissibility in the courts, third party access with implied consent, and the Freedom of Information Act. The second chapter will cover medical record analysis. You will be given several learning activities to help you gain an understanding of how to best analyze medical records. This module is fundamental to new legal nurse consultants. This module has been approved for 15 Nursing Contact Hours by the Illinois Nurses Association.
