AA now vs RN now

Published

Hello,

I am attending a community college for my AA degree. I am enrolled currently in 2 classes and have 1 more left. I am undecided if I should finish the AA now or go ahead and apply for the RN programs here in Tampa FL.

The decision is hard for me to make because I know that becoming an RN is what's more important but then when I look at the benefit of going into an RN program with an AA and high GPA it also looks good and standout. Please feel to comment on what you think is best.... thank you all

Thank you. You are very helpful by sharing your experience and being positive. I really do appreciate that.

If you have the opportunity of applying to RN programs, then apply instead of sitting out years of nursing school in favor of finishing with an AA. The quicker you get in an receive your ADN, the more years of RN experience and income you'll be earning. Also, you can take the electives you need during your summer or winter break while in nursing school.

Even if you are not able to take all the classes you need toward your BSN, community college isn't too expensive and you can pay out of pocket.

If getting an AA will count for two points towards your application, I recommend you find a different way of getting the two points from somewhere else. For example, aim for the maximum amount of points for your TEAS and make it up that way.
