So I am brushing up on my math using the required text. I was answering the problems in the text and had no problems until I came to a 1 question asking me to convert the decimal to fractions. ( mind you I got the others right) Basically 240ml of drink required to drink, client only drinks 200 ml. How many ml are left show as fraction in lowest terms.
240ml - 200ml =40 ml 40ml/240ml = 0.16'''''
Now for some unknown reason I am unable to figure the fraction out to 1/6! What am I missing here? Please help it is driving me and my hubby insane! :uhoh3::uhoh3:

40/240 is 1/6 you just have to find the lowest common denominator and reduce it down. e.g 40/240= 20/120=10/60=1/6....Does that make sense? It's all the same.

40ml/240ml reduced to lowest terms is 1/6 if you divide the top (40) and the bottom (240) each by 40.
So instead of doing the division I just need to reduce it! UGGG makes sense. Although with the others I didn't do that. oh well live and learn now I know how to do it again if I ever run across another problem.
BTW: I feel really dumb right now!
Don't feel dumb! When you don't do that kind of math for long periods it's easy to get confused! BTW...I meant to say, find the highest common denominator to reduce it...not the lowest. In your case, it would have been 40. I'm also freshening up on my old math skills to prepare for the hesi entrance exam....multiplying and dividing fractions!!!! Yuck.
