A question for any re-takers??

Published

When you took your exam for the 2nd time, was it similar to your first NCLEX expierence or was it a different test completely? I am about to take the NCLEX for the second time on May 3rd. I took it March 17th & received all 265 questions, I was so devastated. I really don't want to go through that again, so I am trying to prepare myself as much as i can. Any words of wisdom you can throw my way, would be greatly appreciated :clown:

Thanks :)

hi, i recently took my test for the second time last week. the first time my test stopped at 75 questions and the second time it stopped at 75 questions. the first time i honestly think i studied too much because when i went in to take the test nothing was registering. i didnt take my time to understand what the questions were asking and not to mention nerves took their toll as well. The second time was completely different, i studied but not nearly as much as i did the first time, it went from all day to about 3-4 hrs ago of answering questions. i told myself that i wouldnt let anxiety get in the way of me answering questions correctly because i knew i knew the material well enough to pass. i also prayed everyday and even on test day(2nd time) i wrote a prayer across my stomach so that i could pray it once i took a break. but i never got the chance to take a break bc the test shut off at 75 again. but this time i read the questions, made sure i knew what they were asking, when i didnt i read the question again and again if i needed to. i eliminated answers that i knew were not correct. i had so many select all that apply it was crazy. i couldnt gauged myself bc i didnt know if i was doing good with them or not. it took me about an hour and a half. i walked out of the test center in disbelief bc i wanted as many questions it was going to take for me to pass. i knew i took my time answering questions and was like these questions are too easy! i couldnt believe it. i used kaplan questions, lacharity, exam cram, saunders to help me put this beast behind me.

sorry this is so long but i hope it helps you.

You can not expect the same test questions or even a similar mix. The computer serves up questions based on your performance, so you should get a different mix because this time you are better prepared and thus, doing better, as you go along.

the questions that you took have been purged from your particular account. You will never see the same question again.

Sorry to hear that you have to take on the beast again, but unless you quit divulging on what you did in the past, you will be seriously undermining your learning the second time around.
