A problem between the staff

@Does a problem sometimes take place between the staff? (Example : I don't want to work together because I dislike that nurse.)

Certainly, will such a problem take place in every country?

not only in every country, but in every work place. Sometimes the problem is not just the one person, it is a lack of cummunication between everyone. Is there anyone who could act as an intermediary between the staff and this person? Try a meeting to discuss the problems and see if there is a way to make a team of everyone

The only nurse I couldnt work with was an agency nurse (nither could any other nurse on my unit, including other agency nurses). The woman was plainly unsafe, and didnt want to work. Luckly she was easly taken care of, the agency was told not to send her again. Every other nurse I have worked with, I liked, and enjoyed working with. I am an RN for two years now, and I'm hoping it stays like this for the rest of my career

All though you would like it to stay that way for the rest of your career, it is a possibility you could be the victim of aggression or mistreatment. I, too, would not want ever work with "bad" people, but the fact remains you may one day be faced with it. Lets all hope it never happens to us, and also admit it might just happen anyway and there is nothing you can do about it because peoples minds are subject to breakdown today and behavior is hard to change once a "short-circuit" occurs. Good luck.

People are people EVERYWHERE.

You do not have to like someone just because they are a coworker.Try to be objective and look at that person's strengths. Is he /she always on time and prepared? Do the patients like this nurse? Is this nurse good at starting IVs (etc)?

I enjoy your posts, Kenshi

agree with the above. You don't have to like them. But I believe you do have to maintain a professional attitude toward them. Or you will just make the problem worse

I agree with having to maintain a professinal attitude. sometimes that can be VERY difficult. I get along with all of my co-workers quite well. We frequently do things outside of work, like go out to eat or Party-lite parties at each other's houses, etc. I do tend to have some difficult days, though, as I am dating a co-workers son. We generally try not to talk about that aspect of my life while at work, though, simply because it has nothing to do with my job or hers. She does tend to have more of a negative attitude toward me than the others if things don't go her way, but I am getting better and better about ignoring her little jabs and treating my patients with the utmost compasssion and respect-it makes me feel like I can still make a positive difference in someone's life. :)
