I will have the A/P next semester. I have one of those coloring books that everybody talks about. I have looked at it. I am not trying to be stupid (just having one of my senior moments) was is the best way to use this book?

Hi Hissy,

I just had my first round of A/P this summer. Advice that I will give you is go to lecture and read the book and try to get an understanding of how the organs work alone and together (what their functions are). Then when it comes time memorize where they are get out the 'ole color'in book and color code each organ or bone, etc. I used color pencils which worked really well. For example, if you have a picture of the bones of the skull, color code each individual bone. As you color them in, try to repeat and memorize the name of the bone and make up a word association. A lot organs and parts of organs have names that clue you in to where they are located. ie. Frontal bone of the skull, External Auditory Meatus, etc.

I also would touch the part of my body that I was studying and say the name out loud. That helped tremendously.

Another thing that helped was quizing myself by covering up the name of the organs and then writing them down or saying them outloud.

Thanks I appreciate that. I am trying to get a little head in some classes. I have heard that A/P is very difficult. But when I had it for the Medical Assistant program I loved it. I made a's. I do not know how....

This site helped me study because we had an exam where you had 30 seconds to identify an actual / real bone or part of a bone and looking at the "real" specimens on the above website helped.

I was really eager to start, like you are. A lot of people told me to not bother studying and looking over the material in advance but I did anyway. I'm glad I did because it raised my comfort level with the material and I really did retain a lot of what I studied before class started.

just wanted to say, hello. i didn't use the coloring book but i heard from others it was a great tool for learning.
