A&PII and Life Span Human Development I or Nutrition I

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Can someone please shed a little insight on Nutrition and Life Span Human Development? Are these courses demanding? I am taking my pre req's and these classes are a mystery to me. Would you recommend taking A&PII and Nutrtion together, or A&PII and Lifespan Human Develoment? Some people say take Chemistry before, Nutrition. Please help!

I taking A&P I now, B average, it requires some effort but, I am not busting a sweat.:monkeydance: I also have to work full-time (50 hours a week). Thank you for any advice.

I have never taken nutrition because my plan doesn't require it. I have taken Life span and its easy easy easy. It was a very easy A.

I have had friends who took nutrition while taking A&P and said they complimented each other, but they all felt nutrition was one of the more difficult classes. It wasn't up there with the sciences exactly, but was far harder than the easy classes.

Thank you for the advice, I thought no one would ever reply to my question.

I haven't taken either class but I've heard Human development is easier then nutrition!

Nutrition is a pretty intensive class and thought it can be easy, I worked my butt off to get an "A". Human Development is a psychology class, and psych is something I really like (I'm actually minoring in it) so I didn't really have much of an issue with it. I will say though, that some of the information I've learned in Anatomy II has overlapped with information that was covered in my Nutrition class, so it could be beneficial to take the two together, with the idea that they compliment each other in some aspects.

Good luck to you!

Lifespan was a pretty easy, somewhat fun class. I got a kick out of finding out that all of the "common-sense" parenting decisions I had made at 20 were textbook approved:D

The ease of nutrition depends quite a bit on your prior knowledge. There were some in my class for whom the 'interpreting food labels' portion was quite difficult, while for others it was a walk in the park. I took nutrition before A&P II, and while there was one, maybe two chapters about the digestive system that it may have helped a little on, I still managed to earn nearly a 100% in the class without it.

Much of the class was taking common-sense and common-knowledge and building on it. Most of us know that high-fat diets are bad for us, but the next level was a cursory knowledge of the types of diseases associated with such a diet, the types of fat that were best/worst, etc. I would not stress too much on the class.

If you are fairly comfortable with reading food labels, doing simple calculations, and regurgitating statistics (lots of disease stats in mine), then you should be fine. Good luck!

I am just finishing Nutrition as a 5 week summer class. I enjoyed it and feel it can be taken along with A&PII. If you keep up the pace it will not be demanding. Good luck on whichever you choose.

I took Nutrition along with Life Span. I think that if you have a strong backgound in Chemistry then go ahead and get it out of the way. BUT I worked my tail off for a B (it has been 10 years since I have taken Chem.) The nursing program I have been accepted in does not require chemistry. Life Span was an easy A as long as you pay attention. I took both of those classes and A&P II online. Good luck
