Hi P.H.P,

I know exactly how you feel! I thought I was going to fail or get a low grade for our first A&P lecture test simply because this class is very different than all the others. There is a lot of memorizing and unfortunately there is no way around it. I don't know how your teacher does it but ours has tons of notes and he tells us exactly what he wants from us. I usually read the chapter (that can be slow) and I read his notes as well which are condensed chapter notes and help a lot. I also go to my books' website and there are practice tests and also labeling exercises, like for tissues and now the bones.

Try answering the questions in the text book, record the lecture if your teacher allows it. Copy or print the pictures in the book with labels and hang them were you will see them continually. If you want here is the link to my text book's website were you might be able to practice some stuff: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/classware/selfstudy.do?isbn=0072875062

Just sit down and outline your chapter if you don't have the teacher's notes. Sometimes writing and reading help more than just reading. Make some flash cards too. Get an A&P Coloring book. Somehow you will have to figure out how to retain the information and what works best for you. One thing is for sure though, and that's repeat, recite, repeat, recite....

There is a lot of help in here if you search for it. Someone may post where all the links to A&P help are. Don't waste too much time looking for resources when you should be studying. Look at your own textbook website and see if there are practice quizzes and labeling exercises as well. I hope some of my suggestions help you. Good luck and study hard! :specs:

I work ft - don't get to study till in the evening so I've had to figure out how to be efficient. If you have a workbook that goes with your text book and or class handouts then focus your studying around that. Also it helps if your teacher tells you what material you will need to know for exams so that you can read efficiently. Start testing and/or drilling yourself as soon as possible in the week. Unless you have prior knowledge of the material or you just absorb super fast then you won't do well on your first try at the drill/practice test but that's okay because the questions you get wrong will highlight the material you need to reread. Then test yourself again until you get most of the questions right. My course comes with online labeling quizzes and other learning tools. If yours doesn't have this there are lots of materials online - finding them is as easy as running an internet search for them.

Hi Princess,

Here is a link (if I got it to work right) of a thread I started a while back...it has all my best study tips for A&P, plus some typed-up notes to use as a supplement or inspiration.

https://allnurses.com/forums/f198/p-help-my-brain-yours-334360.html

Today I went through all my old typed-up AP 1 & 2 notes and put them in one huge binder...the binder fits 640 pages...it's FULL. I had no idea I was capable of learning so much information! You can, too!

Have fun in A&P!:D
