I had taken a Bio class called "The Human machine" a good 5 years prior to my A&P 2 I'm in now. So of course anything I learned 5 years ago is long gone! I honestly don't think you'd need it, if it's not a prereq. My school does require it though. It should say right in the course descrition if you need any prior's. I think it varies per school. I'm taking A&P 2 before A&P 1, I know you can't always do that either, so everything does certainly vary by school.
Some schools require a basic bio course others don't. The school where I took A&P did not require a prereq. Not everyone will get an A in A&P but I don't think taking gen bio before A&P has any particular bearing on that. The way I see it if you can read and write english and have a body you have the foundational knowledge you need to get through A&P and the final grade is basically reflective of how much time you put in.

Hi, I already have a BA degree in a non-science related field and am going to begin taking nursing pre-reqs this summer. Is it necessary or advisable to take a basic biology course prior to A&P I and II? I don't want to waste time taking this course if it is very basic, but I don't want to be lost in A&P either. Any advice?
thanks
