Hello Everyone,
I'm working on a few prerequisites I didn't take with my undergrad degree in order to get a second bachelor's in nursing. This summer I took Statistics (5 week course) and am still taking Anatomy and Physiology (Part 1). My anatomy course is online, and we are basically in a "teach it to yourself" course, which makes it hard to study and not know what specifically we should be focusing on. My professor's native language isn't English, so sometimes things get lost in translation when communicating via e-mail.
I'm maintaining an A average in there, but I feel myself struggling a little more and more each chapter. I'm currently working on the chapters on joints, muscle tissue, and muscles. I have about 13 days to learn all this material. I asked my professor what muscles we should focus on, and she just tells everyone the same thing: Look in the mirror, move your muscles, and learn the names. Okay. Knowing how detail-oriented her tests are, I'm thinking I need to learn a bit more than that! In addition, we have lots of essays, case studies, and lab reports to turn in. This course ends in a month and I still have four chapters after these to do the nervous system, which I hear is also a challenge.
How do I get through this class without going insane?
Next semester, I have the second part of this course (also online) as well as an online nutrition course and an on-campus Chemistry course. I don't feel as if I will struggle in those two (hopefully), and the semester in the fall is 16 weeks.
I feel like I can't get a good enough grasp on this course. She mentions only studying for 30 minutes each day, reading the chapter objectives and then summaries, but if I did that I know for a fact I'd fail the exams because they are detail-oriented. A lot of the "helpful links" are broken in the course materials too.
Any advice on how I can get a good grip on this and not spend my entire day studying/learning material? I see 2-3 hours per day being reasonable, but lately it's 6-8 just to do the assignments and have time to study.
Thanks so much!

Hello, I took A&P 1 this past spring semester, while working full time, have a 2 year old, and also took Eng 2, lifespan, nutrition, and online PE (needed it to be core complete) and I ended with an A in the class. My prof, who was a Dr, recommended using bozeman science on youtube to help study, he really break things down, and if you don't like his teaching method try find other youtube videos...that's what helped me get through both lecture and lab, but especially with the Lab portion...I'm currently taking Micro for this summer term and when it ends next week, I'll be taking A&P 2 for 5 weeks. my A&P class was on campus by the way.

Hi! I keep going back to the "maintaining an A"! With all that you said, this is awesome! I'm finishing my summer I A & P II right now and it's not unusual for me to spend 4-6 hours a day on it. Do you have practice quizzes available? If you don't, there are a lot of quizlets online pertaining to each system we study. Also, there should be some tutors available, I would think. Good luck to you!
