A&P1 online over summer..

Published

Has anyone ever taken A&P1 lecture/lab as an online course? I am not sure what to expect and with it being over the summer session I am wondering how successful I will be and if I will learn... Unfortunately I have to travel for a week for work purposes and cannot take it on campus or I would!! I am looking for any experiences or advice.

Thanks!

I just finished A&P I online and got an A. I start A&P II on monday, online. The class is 4 credits, lab is done online. Pretty easy if you ask me. Good luck!

I begin nursing school this Fall and have completed 48 credit hours ALL of them except the labs were online. It can be done and I actually preferred online format. It does require a huge amount of self discipline ...and top notch study skills...but all in all you get out what you out in. Good Luck!

I think its doable. I don't believe online classes is any different from traditional classroom lectures. For me, online classes gave me time to figure out for my self how to learn the material and how to structure my studying instead of the professor doing it for me. It helped me use my own brain to make a good outline and not depend solely on the professor for a rough idea of the test material. You get a lot of autonomy for taking a class online and I like that. Online classes save time and gas (WINNING!).

I'm also taking it online for the first time. (A&P 2) I'm anxious to see what the first quiz is like. We are allowed to take it up to three times, which the highest grade that counts. My previous professor said that he would not recommend taking it over the summer nor online. LOL - I'm doing both. I decided it was best for me because I learn better on my own. I think I have ADD because my mind strays far far away whenever I'm in class anyway. I ended up with an A because I took the time to study and prepare at my own pace. I hope the same strategy works this time around. But if not, our teacher also teaches on campus and said that her online students could sit in on her classes at any time!

I have been taking online/correspondence courses since high school and even though I am used to the format of online learning and consider myself to be an "individual learner" in some courses, I think I would have a hard time with taking A&P online; however, since you have no other choice, I suggest supplementing your learning with other sources like websites, activity books, and the like. In high school I took science and biology and have taken university microbiology all online and I felt like I was missed out on some aspects of my education... that I could have learned more and absorbed information better if I only took these courses in an actual classroom, interacting face-to-face with an instructor. But then again, it really depends on how the online course is structured - some are better (e.g., more hands-on) than others.
