A&P2 and Micro together?

Just a quick question. For Fall 04, I am registered to take Nutrition, Lab for A&P1,

and A&P 2 lecture. I am considering adding on Micro. I am prepared to be extremely

busy studying and all, but do you think it is doable? I am applying for Spring 05 admittance

and Micro will be the only thing I have left to do. I guess I could always wait and take it in

the Summer 05 semester. What would you do?

I took A&P2 w/ lab and Micro w/lab together while working full time. I have to tell you, it was a little difficult, and I wouldn't recommend it if there's another option, but it's definitely doable. Now I would NEVER take another class on top of that, no matter what it was. I got out with high B's in each class (like 88-89%) but I'm disappointed I didn't get the A's that I'm used to.

Good luck.

This past semester I took APII lecture/lab, Micro lecture/lab, and Chem lecture/lab. It was tough, but doable. One thing though: I have a very strong background in biology (cellular biology) which helped me alot during Micro. If you don't know very much cell biology, you will have alot more things you need to learn. It depends on if the sciences are your strong point in my opinion. Good luck!

Edited to say: I got all B+/A's. I was working 20-30 hours a week.

Thanks a bunch. I have decided to put Micro off until the summer semester. I am getting a B in my A&P1(lecture) and it is really eating at me. I also love seeing those A's.

i am starting my graduate np program this fall (as a direct entry student) and i am currently taking anatomy, physiology, and microbiology concurrently. i was a little concerned going into the semester that i might be overloading myself, especially considering that i would have 3 separate labs to contend with. but it has been a painfree journey thus far and, in fact, there has been a lot more cross-over in material than i anticipated (i.e. all 3 courses deal with cell structure & function, osmosis, ions, etc.). when you learn the same thing through 3 different courses at the same time, it not only makes the tests easier but i think the information is also more likely to "stick."

just my 2 cents.

well, if bear can do it, i can do it. i'm taking the same 3 pre-reqs this summer in anticipation of starting a direct entry program in the fall. i don't have 6 kids tho. but i am taking my last 3 business classes for my bs in finance. it helped that i borrowed a&p and micro books to study beforehand from my sister-in-law, who will be finishing up her adn program in spring 2005.

Top,

It's not so bad. Good study habits are the key. I think too many people I know think that good study habits means studying all of the time. I don't think that's the case at all. It's just learning how to study more effectively, and how to manage your time. Heck, I've got 3 weeks left in the semester and I still have an A+ average in all 3 classes. You'll get through it.

Hey, I see you're from Irvine. I lived out there for a while. Nice area. Hard to get to know people out there though.

it really is about managing time and i've got that down to a science. i know i can do it - i just have to stay organized and on top of things.

irvine is great! i've never had a problem with getting to know people. but i'm a pretty outgoing person anyways. when did you live out here?

I lived out there for abot 6 months about 10 years ago. What a sparkling-clean city. I especially like UC Irvine. There were a couple of places I really enjoyed going while there. One was a nice informal restaurant with a deck overlooking a lake. I can't remember what it was called. The other was a hangout called "The Red Onion?" Does that sound right?

i live next to uc irvine! the red onion went out of business, oh about 8 years ago. the restaurant over the lake is now called waters. i think it was called something else 10 years ago, but i can't remember what. i've only lived in irvine 5 years, but used to come down here all the time about 10 years ago when i was in college "the first time" to visit friends. i probably saw you around!
