A&P here I come!

Published

As I've written before, I have had a terrible time with getting into A&P because so many need to take it and there are so few classes. This year it looks like they added several more, included another evening class.

I was able to register this morning for it! This is a huge sigh of relief. It looks like things will go according to plan and that's by the end of next spring semester, I can turn in my sheet and get put on the wait list!

Rumor has it there's no wait list for the evening/weekend program at the moment. Of course this could change by this time next year, but hopefully it doesn't and I can get in quicker then I anticipated. If not, I will just take some classes to pass the time.

Also on the list for fall:

Nutrition

Elementary Algebra (thought I'd better take a class to keep it fresh in my mind)

Developmental Psych

Anyway, I just had to post because only other fellow prenursing students understand where I'm coming from :lol2:

Sadly, Microbiology will be over for me in a few weeks. We have two more weeks of lecture after tonight and I will miss it terribly. Especially the instructor. THe only other class she teaches is human biology so it's doubtful I will ever have her again :o

Congrats on getting into AP I hope you enjoy it! I also had to wait to get in so many kids so few teachers! But I am finishing up my last semester now and I really really enjoyed AP

Its better to register for classes the first day registration is open then you have first "dibs." I always do that and always get in the classes I need.

That works if you can do that, our school assigns students their registration dates so some people can register in november for january classes while others have to wait until december or even January to register, for those people getting the classes they want are next to impossible. They assign your dates by how long you have been at the school so a Transfer student like myself who was coming in new was put on the bottom priority for registration dates I could never get into the classes I needed, I finally had to petition the enrollment office for a better date.

That's how my program worked, also. They told me when I could register. It was only two days after the start of registration, so I was able to get the classes and instructors I wanted, but there was a real possibility that I wouldn't. Lots of people are in that position of having to wait.

I have been fortunate now to have one of the first registration days it took me two years to get that though, many semesters I was cut out of the classes I wanted because my date was so far back. AP usually fills up the first day for one instructor and the first week or so for the other 2 instructors.

That was my problem. My school goes by how many credit hours you have completed and registration for spring opened up before fall semester was done. So I had zero credits for fall and spring registration. For this summer and fall, I have 13 credits completed so I was able to get in a wee bit earlier to register. By next springs registration, I should be able to register even earlier because spring and summers semesters will count.

I'm obsessed when it comes time to register. We are allowed to make up a preferred class list beforehand so I do that then on the day I can register, I'm up early and watching the clock like a hawk and I'm online one minute before my registration time hits A&P for spring filled up by the second day so I stood no chance. I kept checking but no spot ever opened.

hahaha I do the samething I even have day one registration now but I still do the writing down the day and scheduling my day so I can be online at that time. I even go so far as monitoring the online site a few days before hehehe.

Dibs nothing, at my school it's the only way to get into classes. The spring A&P class I wanted filled up in 4 minutes (yes, four minutes). That was the 10am class, the 8am class I did get into filled up in 11 minutes. Our advanced registration starts at 7am and by 8am of the same day, all of the A&P3 classes were full.

It's brutal just getting into classes....nevermind trying to get an A in them.

Peace,

I have A&P this quarter also, it is alot to learn. But you can do it. Buckle down and study hard. I have 16 credit hours this quarter, I have little time to do anything else but study, but it is so worth it in the long run. Good Luck.
