I am checking into RN completion to BSN online programs. UOW seems to have a good program and very reasonable. $120 per semester hour vs UOP is $350 per semester hour as are many of the other online programs. Just wondering if any of you have any experience with UOW? They also have a MSN programs for nurse educators. I would love to continue on to that program also. Thanks

after getting my associate's i started working full time and completed the bsn course through interactive television, correspondence, telephone, and some live instructors - the first time i went to laramie was for my graduation - it worked fine -although i think some of the instructors may have been a little easier on me since i was the only student enrolled! - but i think it's a good school and has a good reputation

I am also looking at the RN to BSN program, I would love some further feedback.

I am finishing my second semester in the UWYO MSN nurse educator option. I can't speak to the undergrad experience since I got by BSN the traditional way from the Univ. of TN many, many moons ago. But , I do think the graduate program is high quality and reasonably priced. The instructors I've had so far have been engaged with the students online and give good feedback.

UOW for out of state is over 300.00/semester hour not 120.00. I think I am going to try to go there though. I am going to find the funds first. If anyone has gone to the university I would appreciate it if I can ask some questions about transfer classes such as do you have to take Physical Ed if your over 38? Do you still have to take Pathophysiology if you've taken Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II?

thanks.

I looked into them. They wanted $50 just to evaluate my transcripts so they could tell me how many classes I needed to take. Hadn't even decided to go there yet - felt like that was extortion, and that it may be a sign of further nickel and diming to come.

I ended up at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences in their online BSN program. I'm about 1/3 done & enjoy the program. Very flexible and it works for me, affordable. Faculty worked with me to make my most recent class assignments/due dates flexible and doable while in the midst of a major move.

A tip - get books from Amazon or somewhere else on line. I've saved a bundle doing it that way without any problems. Just make sure you get the correct edition.

Good luck wherever you decide to go!

You won't get a reply from them. I am soooooo frustrated with the UOW. I paid my 40.00 fee for them to evaluate my transcript and give me answers, but have gotten nothing but a hard time. No one will tell me anything. I was told until I get admitted they cannot tell me anything, but that is not what the website says about the 40.00. It is crazy and disjointed at the UOW. Admissions doesn't know what's going on in nursing. Nursing doesn't know what it going on over here. When I did finally get one person to answer 1 question her answer was wrong. My transcript is finally at the school and has been looked at and the nursing school still wont' talk to me until I "get my letter of admittance." Whatever!!!!!! I need to sign up for classes NOW n my town for some prereqs, not on their terms and I need to know what to take. They could tell me if they wanted to.

The UOW needs to get more faculty who are willing to help and that are there to serve the student's needs, not there own. I will not recommend this school if you don't have to go for the $ or other reasons.

If the way the have handled me thus far is any indication of the way their classes are going to be then there is going to be nothing but Hell.:devil:

I have to agree. Universities are as much as business as a place of education. If they do not provide good service to their customers (aka students) then people will no longer "shop" there. There are other Universities out there that do a better job, and I was happier not pursuing my BSN at WY any further.

Best wishes to all, whatever your choice!

Go to Jacksonville State University in Alabama, RN to BSN Step program 3 semesters-very do-able even being full time Rn and full time mom. I am starting my last semester next week and can't wait to graduate. All instructors were great and everybody knows everybody by their first names!. I live in NJ and having been doing this completely online. No clinical!!! Tuition is so reasonable and no hidden fees, actually no fees at all. Look into it.

I actually looked at Wyoming first, but was turned off by the lack of any replies to my calls.

I had a great under grad experience at UWYO if anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Hi, What is the program like? Are there cohort or group projects? How are the tests given? Are there online classes? Anything you can tell me would be helpful. Thanks.

- Helene

It is a mixture of group projects. The classes are in class unless you are going from RN to BSN. You do use an online system to turn in work and look at grades and assignments. Most of the theory class you take multiple choice tests. Some of the class requiring writing papers. You have clinicals twice a week. The last semester you only do clinicals. I thought it was a very good program. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
