My DH has had bouts with this--it's related to his crohn's disease somehow. His treatment for the crohn's usually works, but sometimes he has to start the prednisone. Protopic has really helped the last couple of times he has started having sores. It seems to keep them from getting really bad, and definitely has stopped further scarring.
Does this protopic help if eschar is present? Thanks.

Now that, I don't know. He caught it early the last few times it started and managed to keep it from turning into those horrible sores. Sorry I can't help!

I have pyoderma and the treatment i have been undergoing is called IVIG(inter venus immune globlin). Its an infusion that seems to work.My dermatologist got me started on it.I do not have crohns disease and once tried Remicaid which they use to treat Crohns and had a bad reaction to it but i dont think it works anyhow.Other than that, treatments are noy known.Have 2 leg sores for over 8 years and both legs totally scarred from previous.

We have a patient with this condition, she has a large leg ulcer secondary to the pyoderma gangrenosa. We are treating the ulcer with Protopic around the edges, and Anabact Gel to the 'broken' area. She is also prescribed Dexamethasone orally, and Cyclosporin injections.

I had pyoderma gangrenosa for 5 yrs already and nothing worked
so people this is the only treatment for that all my boils scarred
the name is
BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE CREAM USP 0.05%
that is the only medication for it trust me ...I went thru a 5 yr ordeal to get rid of it but when I got this cream : the wounds start to scar in a week you will definitely see the results .... apply it once a day and if your wounds are very bad apply it 2 times a day
good luck and God Bless you

This is great information... I had a dear lady in my care for 6 mos. who had this.. all were were told to use was Dakin's Solution wet to dry and she was given lots of prednisone. Those wounds took for EVER to heal. She prone to getting this, so I'm going to bookmark this and let the family know so they can confer with her doc... for the next time.
Thank You !!!
I strongly suggest for you to tell her as soon as possible
because this cream does miracles or at least it did it to me
let me know if you have questions
God bless

Thanx again.. I really appreciate it ! Will pass the info on to her husband, and if her doc will try it (and I certainly hope he does.. this woman has been through ENOUGH!) I'll sure let you know the results! :)
