I have heard that the emirates have lowered the contract for nurses from 3 years to 2 years. And, you can go the UAE with a tourist visa, take the nursing exam and if you pass, you may get offered a job. This from a friend of mine.. so please verify with other sources. I do agree that you MUST get clinical experience in the Philippines if you can.. I also know that in some areas, nurses have to "volunteer" (yep, not get paid) just so that they get the experience they need in order to work overseas. Crazy.

That is the crazy reality in the Philippines in my time i have to pay the hospital just to volunteer and have a hospital experience.

Yes a lot of nurses are coming here for a tourist visa and find a job. it is easy if you have the experience but if you dont have you will end up in the clinic and some are underpaid. there are some hospital that requires a DOH exam but some have their own sets of exam here there are two systems in Health Care the Health Authority and the Ministry of health Go for the health Authority as they are giving much better compensation and benefits but applying to health authority is not that easy, first they are verifying all your documents credentials job experience even high school diplomas are needed, and you need to have at least 2 or 3 years hospital experience. The salary they will give is base on how many years you are working as a nurse but it also depends on what hospital is that.

Doing those "volunteer" training programs in the Philippines actually do not count as work experience when applying to another country, as they are training only and then there is no further work experience in that area available to them. They are not accepted as work experience in any country as most of the trainings are only three months or so and that just does not count.

Be very careful now on entering a foreign country on a tourist visa with the idea of staying, there have been many reported problems of late from things that have happened especially in Middle East countries. Things are not always as you expect that they will be, and not so nice things have happened when someone is willing to do about anything to work.

Thanks for the replies!!!:)

Hmmm, I thinkI'm going to start as a "volunteer" here this January, so said by my cousin, who workd in the hospital I'm going to volunteer in..well, I hope this one works. and after, I think I'm really headed for dubai..hehehe..:)

it sucks here because hospitals don't get to look on your credentials but your "power" or rather "backer". it's quite humiliating but, I graduated cum laude, but I'm stuck here with no job at all. pretty unfair but i guess that's how the world works.hehehe..

I suggest you get at least 2 yrs experience before you apply here in Dubai. As your experience will effect your salary.

my friend intends to go to dubai too and her way is that her cousin there submitted her resume from the classified ads from the newspapers there and she said that the company will take care of her documents.. is that possible and legal?

Hi camryn, thanks for the tip..may we know how much is the present rate/month for new nurses their in dubai right now?thanks.
