Newly qualified British-born nurse, educated in Denmark, wants to work abroad.

Hello all,

As I mention in the title, I am a newly qualified nurse. I am British, but live in Denmark and have taken my nursing degree in Denmark.

I'd like to ask if anyone can advise me regarding working abroad as a newly qualified nurse.

At some point in the future, I would really like to try working in an English speaking country again, as I really miss speaking my mother tongue at work.

What, for example, are the requirements for working in the following countries: UK, USA, Australia, Malta, this taking into consideration, that I am newly qualified and therefore have little experience, plus the fact that I am a British national with a Danish education.

I know it's a bit of an awkward question, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

U.K. Will require 12 months post Reb experience suggest checking out NMC website for trained overseas.

As Denmark is an EU member state you should be able to transfer your registration across. We've just appointed nurses from other EU countries who are newly qualified in my hospital in the UK

It's worth contacting an agency to assist with this.

Hej xb9s,

Thank you for your reply! Oh, that's really encouraging to hear that you know of newly qualified foreign nurses having been employed at your hospital. I don't suppose you happen to have spoken with any of them regarding how they have gotten employment and through which agency?

Kind regards.

Hej silverdragon,

Thanks for your reply!

I've checked out NMC's website and sent off for an registry application pack, so many thanks for your advice.

Kind regards.

I see no need to go through agencies. Just check out NHS.jobs website
