Hiyaa!

I graduate in December 2015 and will be taking my NCLEX soon after that and then I want to move to Australia to be a nurse! I'm looking into New grad programs and was wondering if anyone out there has been successful in the recent years of obtaining a position in a new grad program in Australia ?!!! I have found out information about applying for approval from the AHPRA and the necessary paperwork but I just want to hear form anyone out there who has done it! Would love some tips and direction.

Thanks to everyone !

Hi and welcome

I think as a International trained nurse you will find difficulties finding someone willing to train you as a new grad due to the many Australian trained nurses applying for the same posts. Also the process with APHRA can take a long time so would suggest trying to get a get where you are whilst going through the process

Within the Victorian public system the computer match system prioritize VIC students who are Australian citizens, other state students that are citizens, then non citizens that studied in Australia, then international students. So seeing that 200 VIC students didn't get grad year placement last year your chande is scant.

Applications are probably closed for commencement in Jan 2016, I think I am interviewing applicants shortly (we get nearly 800 applications for 150 places). Most hospitals don't do midyear commencement anymore. Also you need work rights, you will , ore than likely not get sponsored for a work visa as thereis such an excess of locals for these places. Registration is also essential to nave sorted before you start applying.
